Quest for Fire is a bizarre little movie. On the surface, it seems to mimic ‘Call of the Wild’ or some other naturalist school of thought; yet if you look a little closer, there are elements which I can only classify as ‘Romantic’ (in the romantic era use of the word.)
I’d really like to see animation develop as an art form in America. I’d like to see animated movies as just another stylistic variant producers choose to employ. Luckily, I live in a wonderful time where this seems to be happening, at least to some degree. Hugely successful movies like Avatar (which is essentially animated) [...] The same guy who reviewed The Phantom Menace awhile back puts his sights on Avatar: Be sure to watch part 2.
