This speech was given by Adam Treager; who was speaking on behalf of his graduating class at the University of Minnesota Institute of Technology. You know, I really wish, for your sake and mine that I could stand up here and say “Whew! Glad that’s over! Wow! We’re finally done!” Of course, you know as well [...] The Bay Area is gearing up for the 2010 Maker Faire, which is a very cool event. Here’s some footage of Maker Faire 2009 (also in the Bay Area.) I wish this would come to Houston: Somebody should really write a book about the astounding rise, in recent years, of DIY’ers. If you want to build something this weekend that’s not terribly hard but enormously fun, I suggest you take a page from MAKE magazine and build an Atlatl. I built one a couple weekends ago, and why I would love to ramble on about how I did it, I couldn’t explain it better then the wonderful [...] This is the best thing I’ve ever seen: I love Rube Goldberg machines, almost as much as I love airships and robots. In a proper society, they would all receive the attention they deserve. Finally, somebody found a good use for those ROOMBAS!
